► Biblical Counselors must acknowledge that human beings struggle with Biological, Sociological, Psychological, and Soul focused problems.
► Biblical Counselors should encourage the use of biological examinations and testing by competent providers for diagnosis of biological problems, the treatment of these problems for healing these problems, or at the very least, the relief of symptoms, which might cause, contribute to, or complicate counseling issues, if appropriate.
► Biblical Counselors should help their counselees respond Biblically to Biological problems but support the non-physical Soul focused interventions are a proper response to problems with the medical element. Reject any teaching that excludes the importance of the Soul and the functionality of God, which leads to the blessing of medical care.
► Biblical Counselors reject the notion that medical interventions solve non-physical Soul focused problems. Biblical Counselors embrace the use of medicine for a cure and symptom relief when evidenced based but deny that medical care is sufficient for Soul focused non-biological issues, which require the Power and Authority of God and His Word for ultimate relief and lasting Healing.
► Biblical Counselors shall be committed to counseling those with medical problems but should not attempt to practice medicine without formal qualifications and licensing to do so. When Biblical Counselors have questions or concerns of medical nature, they must refer their counselee to a competent medical professional for diagnosis and treatment. Biblical Counselors shall nurture a Soul-focused humility, understanding that many issues at the nexus of body and Soul defy simplicity. Biblical Counselors recognize that many problems are combinations of Biological and Soulological focused issues.
► Biblical Counselors do not reject the true observations found in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders but reject the DSM as an authoritative guide for understanding the cause and treatment of complex problems of human thinking, emotions, and behavior. Biblical Counselors accept and understand the DSM helps organize human suffering into clusters of categories that may prompt focused attention and can help identify troubling patterns of the human experience that their counselee struggles with. They affirm that God's Word in the Bible serves as an Authoritative guide. Biblical Counselors trust Biblical language to refer to and understand counselees' counseling problems. Biblical Counselors are committed to applying the teachings in the Bible to an understanding of the cause of and treatments for those problems.
► Biblical Counselor understands God extends His general empathy to all of his creation and the people within it by making provisions for their physical needs and granting them intellectual gifts. This general empathy, also known as common - grace, allows secular unbelievers to comprehend facts in science. It is why those that trust Him can affirm the true information that unbelieving secular humans come to understand. The manifestation of God’s intimate empathy, known as specific grace, is His offer to humanity for salvation through reconciliation with those who trust in Him.
► God’s common grace cannot overcome the curse of the Torah placed on all of humanity without extraordinary saving empathy. This reality guarantees that, though unbelieving secular humans can know many facts, however, they will misunderstand information that is most central to the human condition and, therefore, the meaningful purpose of life, which includes information about God, the human condition, and its solution in His empathy His Torah.
► The primary element of Biblical Counseling includes YHVH, God’s Word, which reveals the nature of the human condition and God’s solution; the secular counseling methods are ultimately at odds with the unique Biblical approach to the counseling therapy of healing.
► Biblical Counselors are committed to Biblical discernment and understanding the nature of Soul-focused issues and to dealing with offenses to God through gentle, God-focused correction.
► Biblical Counselors are committed to Biblical discernment in understanding the nature of Soul focused issues and to dealing with suffering through God-centered encouragement.
► Biblical Counselors are committed to Biblical discernment in understanding the nature of Soul focused issues and to dealing with weakness through compassionate, empathetic care in the context of the body of the Son of God through Sociological issues.
"My people were silenced for lack of knowledge; because you have rejected knowledge, I will also reject you from being a priest to me; seeing that you have forgotten the Torah of your God, I, too, will forget your children." (Hoshea 4:6)
